Albert was one of WISE’s first secondary school scholarship recipients; in fact, he graduated from secondary school before WISE began the post-secondary phase of its scholarship program. He began matriculating at Mongu Teacher’s College, selling shoes to pay for his tuition. With his savings depleted before completing school, he and WISE Zambia Director Maggie Indopu connected, and WISE provided him a scholarship to complete is remaining time at Mongu Teacher’s College.

One of the important components of WISE’s scholarship program is the obligation of each scholarship student to give back to her or his family and community. Paying it forward, Albert is now WISE’s education coordinator and assistant director in Kaoma, Zambia. In this role, he facilitates receipt and evaluation of scholarship applications, maintains our student database, and monitors our students’ academic progress throughout the school year.
