WISE attempts to structure its programs in a manner to obtain maximum benefits for a wide range of constituents. For example, WISE’s agricultural conservation training program began with the families of WISE’s scholarship students; thus, the first training program not only assisted subsistence level families, but had the added benefit of providing additional support for WISE’s scholarship students.
WISE Zambia scholarship student Pamela, pictured above, exemplifies these values at work. Pamela is currently a student at Kaoma Nursing School, and she is pictured during her internship at Kaoma Community Hospital. WISE Zambia works closely with the administration of Kaoma Nursing School to facilitate the application process for WISE Zambia students seeking to enter into nursing. Pamela has wanted to be a nurse since childhood; the opportunity to attend nursing school fulfills a lifelong dream. Finally, once Pamela graduates, she has committed to pay it forward, supporting both WISE Zambia and her community in her new career.
